Critical Grace

Yes. Grace – God’s unconditional favor and blessing toward people. The Biblical perspective on the color of the skin is that all races are equal in the eyes of God. Peter, a devout Jew, violated Jewish custom by walking into a house of a Gentile. He said, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism.” (Acts 10:35, NLT). Not only are all people equally loved by God, but all people are also equally sinful before God. The Bible states, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We have not done what is right. No one. We cannot be right with God on our own. Grace is critical for everyone in any race to be right with God.

Though the Gospel of Jesus Christ was first preached to the Jewish nation, it spread from Jerusalem to all the world. The Apostle Paul once said, “For I have a great sense of obligation to people in both the civilized world and the rest of the world, to the educated and uneducated alike. So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach the Good News. For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile” (Romans 1:14-16, NLT). The Good News of Jesus Christ – the Gospel – is God’s power to save people of all races. He does not look at our outside appearance – He looks at the heart. The Bible says, “The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (I Samuel 16:7, NIV).

Not only is grace critical for the salvation of any soul in any part of the world, but the grace of God also has a transforming effect on the person he or she saves. Grace not only makes people right with God, but grace also makes people love others. The grace of God creates a new family of God from every color, nation, language, and people. Grace breaks down walls of enmity, jealousy, arrogance, and prejudice. Grace is critical. The Bible describes the family of God in heaven this way: “After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, ‘Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!’” (Revelation 7:9-10, NLT).

Grace is critical for anyone to be right with God. Grace changes the way believers see others. The work of God’s grace enables believers to see past the skin. If Christ died for you, and He did, then you have great and eternal value.
