We are grateful you are interested in membership at San Saba’s First Baptist Church. Membership is reserved for devoted followers of Jesus Christ with a personal testimony of salvation. If you would like to know more about the Good News of God’s love for you through His son, Jesus Christ, click here.

There are a few things you need to do to become a member of SSFBC. First, come forward during the invitation time of the worship service to let a pastor know you would like to become a member of SSFBC. When you come forward, you will receive the book “I Am A Church Member” by Thom Rainer. This book provides a good description of the kind of church member that honors the Lord, edifies others, and provides a good witness to the watching world.  We highly encourage each member of SSFBC to read this book.

Next, you need to be baptized by immersion if that is something that you have never done.

Finally, you must attend a Membership Matters class. It is important for each membership applicant to attend a Membership Matters class, which outlines beliefs, ministries, service opportunities, and expectations of new members. The class takes place during Sunday School and is offered quarterly by the church.  The class will also be an opportunity to meet all the staff and receive a tour of the facility. Applicants are not voted on by the church body until they have been through this class. Please call the church office to find out the date of the next Membership Matters class. (325)340-9832

Once these steps are completed, membership applications are officially voted on by the church at each quarterly business meeting.

After you have been approved as a member, you will be assigned a deacon who will assist and encourage you. The deacon may call or visit you upon occasion and is available to you for prayer or ministry.

The larger a church grows, the more necessary it is for members to be a part of a small group Bible study (Sunday School) to make friends and develop relationships. Small group ministry is designed to occur within these fellowship groups. Visit our Sunday School page to find the perfect class for you.
