Five Purposes of the Church

WORSHIP to worship God is central to our purpose in fulfillment of the great command which Jesus said is, “To love the Lord your God with all your heart.” (Matthew 22:37)

MINISTRY – to minister to one another and the world in fulfillment of the second great command which Jesus said is, “To love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 3:39)

EVANGELISM – to witness to the world in order to win people to faith in Jesus Christ in obedience to Jesus’ command, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations...” (Matthew 28:19)

FELLOWSHIP – to fellowship with one another for the purpose of encouragement and strength as illustrated in the early church, “They continued steadfastly in …fellowship…” (Acts 2:42)

DISCIPLESHIP – to disciple is the process of teaching Christians and helping each other grow in faith and in the knowledge of God’s Word as Christ commanded, “…teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:20)
